Zebra Cake Recipe Step By Step


Today, I will share an easy step by step recipe for yummy Zebra striped Cake taken from wonderful recipe site RicenFlour. The cake looks so charming and attractive as you can see in the below picture. This cake can be served with tea in the morning or in the evening, even if you are a cake lover you can have it anytime.

Recipe for Yummy Zebra Cake

The recipe might look complex but if you are experienced in making cakes then it will be an easy one. It takes 40-50 minutes to prepare, serves eight persons.

Ingredients
2 tsp bamboo charcoal powder
1 tbsp hot water
5 egg yolks
1 egg without shell
4.5 tbsp cooking oil
1/3 cup milk
1/2 cup + 4 tsp all-purpose flour
5 egg whites
1/3 cup caster sugar
Salt as per your need
Optional:
Few drops of yellow food coloring
1/4 tsp cream of tartar

Directions:
1. Heat the oven at 150˚C.

2. Take a hot water and mix the bamboo charcoal powder and put aside.

3. Take a bowl, put 5 egg yolks and 1 egg and beat it until the mixture becomes smooth and thick. The beating of this mixture is very important as the cake’s smoothness will depend on this.

4. Now add oil into above mixture and mix it with the help of spoon at low speed, start adding milk and continue mixing.

5. Divide the flour in two separate bowls and mix it manually or if you want to use mixer then do it at the lowest speed. Keep adding the flour and let it mix until it becomes runny.

6. Clean the beater, and start beating egg whites with salt, cream of tartar and sugar until the peaks become thick and firm.

7. Blend the flour mixture made earlier using a balloon whisk for few seconds so that the flour and yolks are well mixed.

8. Slowly add the mixture made in step 6 to the flour yolk mixture, mix it using the whisk. The batter must not contain any large bubbles else the cake would fail to rise.

9. Take the batter in two separate bowls. Take the bamboo charcoal mixture (step 2) and add 3 tbsp batter, stir well and then put the mixture back to one of the batter bowl.

10. take the second bowl of batter and add yellow coloring and do the same as done in the last step.

11. Now take a pan and in the middle pour 3 tbsp of bamboo charcoal batter, 3 tbsp of yellow batter. Repeat this step and you will see ring of black and yellow are there on top of each other. The thickness of Zebra lines depend on the quantity of batter you add.

12. Now its time to bake, open the oven and place the pan in the bottom. Bake it at 150˚C for 40-50 minutes.

13. Once done, take out the cake and put it in the fridge for two days.

14. Grab a piece and enjoy.
