Healthy Meals For Kids


Kids are known to be very moody and picky when it comes to their eating habits and schedules. They develop preference for meals they enjoy the most and want to stick to it, it is your duty to develop their taste buds to healthy and nourishing foods for their healthy growth. Their diet should include proteins, vegetables and fruits in equal proportion in a balanced diet to fulfill their calcium and other minerals requirement.

Nutritionist Ritika Samaddar suggests, "You should play with colors and make efforts for presentation of the food. Cold and colorful fruits like watermelons are always a hit. Watermelons cut into triangles with the rind still attached works well in my home."
Grab a pen and rewrite your menus for your children to make it healthy as well as attractive for them to have in meals.

Here are few meal ideas for your kids to solve your problem:

1.       Melon and Kiwi Fruit Smoothie


Make a perfect blend of melon, papaya, milk, oats and kiwi makes a refreshing and delicious for summers. You can serve this refreshing drink after your kids' playing hours or between meals around 4-5 pm.

2.      Wheat Pasta in Mushroom Sauce


Boil your kid's favorite shape of pasta and add some vegetables like mushrooms, green onions, peas, carrots and make a mushroom sauce with chicken. Toss it in pasta and serve it to your kid in lunch.

3.      Veggie Pizza


Change the trend and make healthy to eat pizza for your children. Use fresh tomato sauce instead of pizza sauce and top it with vegetables like onions, tomatoes, mushrooms, olives and don't top it with extra cheese. Make sure your kid get full nourishment instead of making it junk, make it healthier for them.

4.      BBQ Baked Beans and Sausage


Take baked beans and sausage and add flavor of bbq to it using bbq sauce, don't make it spicy for them, serve it in dinner.

5.      Lentils Patty


Pick your favorite lentils with roasted oats with seasonings and make patties of different shapes to attract your child. Shallow fry them and serve as it is or you can make sandwiches. There is no need to only feed them with chicken or beef patties. Proteins from lentils are also essential for their growth and strong physique.

6.      Oatmeal Cookies


There is no need of always getting chocolate cookies from a super mart or your children. Take them into kitchen and teach them how to make oatmeal cookies. This activity will be resulting in their joy of making cookies on their own as well as they will be delighted to have them. You can try raisin or banana cookies too on Sundays.

7.      Fruit Salad


Fill colors of various fruits in a bowl and make a “never let go” fruit salad for your kids. Use mango, kiwi, strawberries, cherries, bananas, melon, and watermelon and as much fruits as you like. Season your salad with honey to sweeten it a bit more and present to them. You can also use wooden skewers to make it presentable for them to enjoy.
